Archival Release Coming Soon: Fredericton NB's The Angered Wrecks 1981
Here's a snippet of "diatribe"...you'll have to buy the Cardinal Fuzz/Feeding Tube vinyl LP release this October to get the rest of the scoop ! 😉
The Angered Wrecks 1981
Just after high school in 1978, I played in what was likely Fredericton, New Brunswick’s 1st new wave/punk band called The Curbs. We were playing all raved up covers of shit by Robert Palmer, Judas Priest, Max Webster, The Ramones, The Cars etc. We played a handful of gigs over a two year period as I recall and had a lot of fun. The Curbs consisted of myself (John Westhaver) on vocals, childhood friend, Geoff Graser on guitar, Dan Fleming on bass and Rick Thompson on drums. Sadly we never recorded anything. In late 1980 we played a gig called “The Sid Vicious Memorial Concert” At Memorial Hall on the campus of The University Of New Brunswick. A band called The Vogons opened for us that evening. I would a year or so later become for a short period of time the Vogons vocalist, but that’s another story. This gig at MEM Hall would prove to be the last Curbs gig ever. We ended the night with a 20 + minute rendition of the Talking Heads “Psycho Killer” and were joined on stage by Vogon’s leader Danny Silk and audience member Mark Carmody. At a point the stage became a wresting ring with guitars being used playfully as “weapons” and I think Silk even bled after being crowned with an axe as the concert came to a tumultuous end. Carmody, Silk and I decided to form The Angered Wrecks a week later and drafted Curbs drummer Rick Thompson......
The vinyl version will be 300 copies and there is a SUPER LTD. Sam Giles LP Replica version on gatefold cover CDR which will also feature 6 bonus tracks! Cover design on both formats by Brother Brett Savage and music mastered by Chris Hardman!

Late October/early November is an album entitled "Ensemble 8/3/2016" which is ultra heavy psyched out space rock with 2 sidelong untitled improvised pieces featuring 8 players (whom are/were TBWNIS members). Label Focus : Mental Experience @ Birdman Sound
Mental Experience (Spain) is one of the coolest deep shit music labels on planet earth and one of my fave labels! Birdman Sound has been onto their game since earliest dayz and we sell and constantly stock many of their releases! Here's some cherry albums you may well not be aware of which are almost always instock in the shop. 👽
Basking Sharks are one of the unsung heroes of the original minimal/synth-pop/wave era. Formed in 1980 in the North of England, members Adrian Todd, Ged McPhail, and Martyn Eames used an array of home-made electronic instruments plus customized second-hand synths to provide unique sounds. On stage they always played "live" without the use of backing tracks. Their stage act included a slide show, films, and computer visuals synced into the stage performance. Their music merged electronic pop with European influences and experimentation. During their existence, they toured extensively throughout the UK, did a session with John Peel and produced a single, an EP, and an LP plus numerous videos and live recordings. Here's their first ever vinyl retrospective, including a selection of tracks from their sought-after album, Shark Island originally released in 1983, the complete Diamond Age (1983) and Thrill Of The Game (1983) singles plus fantastic previously unreleased recordings. Master tape sound and insert with detailed liner notes and rare photos.Monday, July 26, 2021
Welcome Back Lance Rock Records...Making Dreams Come True !
At some point in 1986, at CKCU-FM here in Ottawa, I was tasked one day as a volunteer, to process the new arrivals for our library. I ran across a cassette album in the pile of swag from Calgary, Alberta's Color Me Psycho called "Kiss Me, Then...Color Me Psycho". In the listening room across from the on air studio, I slammed it into deck and proceeded to lose my mind! TOP shelf, snarling, hard driving, brain baking, Canadian punk rock influenced garage rock! I immediately thought of England's The Damned as an influence and then thought it was right up there with other Canadian gems like Forgotten Rebels, Durango 95 / Purple Toads, UIC, etc. I was gonna pump this fucker on my show "No Future Now" on it's next voyage! I ended up nabbing a copy (which I still have btw) at either Records On Wheels or the Record Peddler in Toronto later that year while down that way to see a show (Alex Chilton perhaps?) Color Me Psycho fucking RAWK! The band waxed a second album in 1988 called "Pretend I'm Your Father" (also kick ass) and then later evolved into the stellar behemoth: Forbidden Dimension (also fucking RULED)!
2 weeks ago at 4 a.m. in the morning I saw a post by Jack Tieleman (Lance Rock Records/The Black Dot/ The Black Tie), and literally gasped! A fucking vinyl version of "Kiss Me Then..." after 35 years ! Christ I had nearly given' up hope ! Here's the scoop...there only 200 copies...it will go fast! I have a few available here in the shop, as do others of course, somewhere and in the western part of our large nation, hit Jack up direct at The Black Tie https://www.facebook.com/The-Black-Tie114361483643543
"Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus..." His name at this very moment is Jack Tieleman...😉💕👽
