Ottawa Record Fair IX : Saturday, March 20th

 

This show is already sold out regarding vendors.  I always have people asking for record show tables who I do not know but in some cases, know of.  JUNK PEDDLER'S of below average vinyl (artists and condition) are not welcome. The Bi-annual Ottawa Record Fair is as curated as I can make it without travelling personally to see what someone has to sell.  I have ZERO interest in ever seeing a sea of 1 -3 dollar albums from anyone's "dead great uncle's record collection", presented at any of my long running record fair/conventions.  Keep that stuff to sell in your own yard sale please. ! 

The last 10 years in particular, access to the internet has created a vast sea of know it all experts, wanna be moguls and large scale losers peddling vinyl. A huge amount of records through the ages, should never have been made in the first place, much less sold to anyone at any point! I have seen so many grim collections of  landfill vinyl for sale, presented to me for 48 fucking years now that it makes me dizzy.  

The Regal Selects - "Declassified" LP 2026

Always refreshing to here a Rock & Roll band in these times that simply bash out timeless, tough edged sounds that can't really be put in a categorical box. Albany NY's Regal Selects are the bar band that you only can hope you accidentally hear some night as you stumble into a greasy club and get yer fucking ears lowered by a one-two musical punch in the head. I got no precise references for their album "Declassified" (Kranepool Records KP2601) other than all the greatest tough shit that went largely ignored

that labels like Homestead, Enigma, Restless, Midnight etc. unleashed back in the 1980's. Don't get me wrong, Regal Selects are not fucking genre retro guys! They are simply a kick ass rock band playing original composition, no doubt influenced by a shitload of bands through the decades that most folks have never heard of, making it their own thing and that's just the way the best shit happens IMHO! If my old legendary radio show Friday Morning Cartunes was still on the airwaves at CKCU here in Fat Cat City you'd hear The Regal Selects seamlessly mixed today with the likes of The Dogmatics, Flamin' Groovies, Dream Syndicate, Thin White Rope, Rain Parade, etc. etc. etc. ACE record ya'll need to check out!!! The Regal Selects feature Howe Glassman on vocals and rhythm guitar, Ryan Bradway on lead guitar, Eric Hardiman on bass and Danny Goodwin on drums.
