Seems a lifetime ago since I first c.ross(ed) paths with Chad Ross. Fairly certain, he presented himself, a young music aficionado and crossed my threshhold at Birdman Sound MK II way the fuck ago in the early 90’s. I must have scared the shit out him as an underage kid. One thing we had in common despite a large age difference then, was 5 Arlington (infamous all ages venue with untouchable depth and history). Rolling ahead a few foggy years, I came to work with many of Chad’s endeavours as a musician following. I booked some of his bands and promoted them because they were awesome, end of story. I carried all their releases in the shop and played them on the radio on “Friday Morning/Afternoon Cartunes”. Hacksaw, The Deadly Snakes, Quest For Fire, Comet Control, Nordic Nomadic, Ghoststory and as of the last few years ((C.Ross)). In 2019 Comet Control played Ottawa Psychfest II and in 2023 at Ottawa Psychfest III Chad played solo hot on the heels of one of the best records of ’22 “Skull Creator”.
Near a year ago today, Chad messaged me as he had finished “Future Site of C. Ross” and was wondering out loud about sending it to some folk for consideration regarding release. After giving him some suggestions it ended up by August of last year that Echodelick Records would soldier it alone and I find it fucking more than pathetic that not one single Canadian label would saddle up and co-release!
Despite a few delays Chad’s “Future Site…” is now physical. Globally there have been some heavy positive accolades and if I can just say this… Well fucking deserved! An album this is a great work of true heart string tugging passion. A modern take on psychedelic music with a foot in the dark side of understated progressive heavy. Unsure why I think it’s as brilliant as mid-70s #PinkFloyd, but there ya’ have it! Don’t think twice about pulling the trigger on this album as it’s a hearty beast. Love ya’ Chad and thanks for proper soldiering Brother, See you at Ottawa Psychfest !
