Field Recordings from Madagascar
This is the cover of a super ltd. (200 copies) 3 LP set with booklet featuring late 1990's field recordings made by Charlie Brooks of Chelsea, Quebec. Some of you may know Chuck from his musical endeavors with Castor, V.E.O.(Valiha Experimental Orchestra) and the Montreal based Carlangas. I will feature trax from this wonderful and long awaited vinyl lp (records actually pressed 8 or so years ago !!!!) on Friday Morning Cartunes on April 9th. Charlie will be in studio for a chat about the record, future projects and we'll also spin a little Castor to get ya'll primed for the psych/stoner mind melt with Castor and Mono Brow Live at the Dominion Tavern on Sat. the 10th. This triple lp is wicked from start to finish and it's exciting to finally hear the actual vinyl and see the finished booklet with a jacket. I remember pouring through Charlie's DAT machine with him upon his return from Africa...both times. This is a joint release between his own Cultural Knot label and the fabulous Mississippi Records label based in Portland and Montreal. Congrats to you Chuck...good things come to those who wait! Tune in Friday Morning Cartunes on 93.1 FM locally and www.ckcufm.com Friday, April 9th from 9:30am - 1:00 pm.
