Hawkwind - Doremi Fasol Latido LP + 7"

Recorded at Rockfield and Olympic studios in September and October 1972, Hawkwind's legendary album "Doremi Fasol Latido" followed on the success of the band's hit single ‘Silver Machine’ and was their first to feature Lemmy Kilmister on bass and vocals and Simon King on drums. Featuring such classic tracks as ‘Brainstorm’, ‘Space Is Deep’, and ‘Lord Of Light’, the album reached the UK Top 20 upon its release in November 1972. This new edition has been remastered from the original master tapes, has been cut at Abbey Road Studios, and is a facsimile of the original 1972 LP release with inner bag and poster. The release also includes a remastered facsimile bonus 7" picture sleeve single of the rare German 1972 single release of ‘Lord Of Light’ b/w ‘Born To Go‘ (live).

The Scenics "Underneath The Door" 1979

You know, what ? Many things do get better with age! I have to admit that when I unpacked this LP as a new release in the shop I worked in at the time, I was honestly "meh". There were so many crazy records being released at that
time by bands you may never have heard of, that it became blase when you worked in a semi-progressive record shop. The cover art did not speak to me and having said that, I'm not that ass that ever judges books by covers. The Scenics were from Toronto and were little known down east at the time and defo never toured down our way!. I can say for a fact that I spun tracks from this album on my radio program at CHSR-FM in Fredericton in the very early 80's and it fit in with what I did for sure. I never owned a copy but had a couple of friends that did. I vividly recall "Underneath The Door", was near impossible back in time to sell at either Sam's or shop # 2 for me; Magic Forest.

Over the course of the last 40 + years I revisited The Scenics from time to time but full on just two years ago through the excellent LP "In The Summer" (unreleased studio recordings 1977-78) that appeared in 2009 on Dream Tower Records.

Crazy...I literally just ordered The Scenics "Dead Man Walks Down Bayview" (2012) LP from Discogs moments ago, as I'm writing this !😁👽 Anyways ...shortly ago in 2024, Jason Flower has unleashed a spectacular release of ultra rare vault recordings entitled "New Part In Town" on his Supreme Echo label which is 10 songs (8 previously unreleased) from 1976 all meticulously remastered from the original analog tapes. 8-page booklet with story, artwork, photos. 500 copies. Includes a sticker !!!  IT IS PHENOMENAL and highly recommended!

Getting back to the legit at the time of release"Underneath The Door" 1979, The Scenics actually IMHO,  a deadly power pop, punk rock, new wave,  60' psych inspired (Velvets) behemoth !!!  Modern Lovers, Real Kids blah, blah blah, it stands toe to toe with!  I suspect this band really kicked out the fucking jams LIVE back in the day!  Long story short and in the grand scheme it matters not, but dig yer head out of your ass and check out all the Scenics stuff.  Hunt down all their shit as they may well be one of the best bands ever in oh fucking Can-A-DUH!  ...JW 👽
