I've lost track of how many years it's been since the VEO (Valiha Experimental Orchestra)have actually played a show but since their inception over a decade ago + I've seen almost every show they have presented and shared the stage with then a number of times as well. The VEO were born out of the inspiration provided to 3 of the 4 members who spent time in Madagascar a number of years ago. The Valiha is a tube zither from made from a species of local bamboo. It is played by plucking the strings, which may be made of metal(generally bicycle brake cable).
In any event, the VEO are making a rare appearance at the National Gallery this Thursday, July 19th from 6-8 PM and it's FREE !!! A rare chance to see a local (Chelsea,Quebec)group (read: offshoot of CASTOR, whom many of you should know). In August Castor play the same venue which follows the VEO show as well mas TBWNIS who played a few weeks ago...birds of a feather flock together ya know....yeah hup!
